Use a family photo, your child's drawing or your own artwork. It's printed full colour across the front of the A5 card. Own designs cost £0.50 more a card.

JPEG or PNG, landscape works best. Use the original photo: screenshots and images saved from messages are often too small.

Questions about Christmas cards

How much is a photo Christmas card?+

£3.49 for one card, including printing, the envelope and Royal Mail 2nd Class postage to a UK address. Bigger orders cost less per card and every card in the order gets the same price: 1 to 4 cards: £3.49 each; 5 to 9 cards: £3.29 each; 10 to 19 cards: £3.09 each; 20 to 29 cards: £2.89 each; 30 to 49 cards: £2.69 each; 50 cards: £2.49 each. That's £0.50 more than our own designs.

What photo works best?+

The original photo from your phone or camera, in landscape. It's printed across the whole front of an A5 card, so a photo of 2000 pixels wide or more looks sharp. Screenshots and photos saved from messages are often too small: we warn you if it will print soft and won't accept one that's far too small. About 3mm is trimmed off each edge, so keep faces and writing away from the very edge.

Do you post the cards to me or to the people on my list?+

To the people on your list. You write one message, add up to 50 UK addresses, and we print a card for each one, put it in an envelope and post it. There's nothing to stamp or take to a post box.

Is the card folded?+

No. It's a flat A5 card, printed in colour on both sides: your photo on the front, your message and the address on the back. It goes in a window envelope so the address shows through.

Who sees my photo?+

An automatic check looks at every upload to make sure it can be printed and posted, and now and then a person looks at it before it prints. The photo is used only to print your cards and is deleted from our storage within 90 days.

When do I need to order photo Christmas cards by?+

Order by 17 December. Royal Mail's last recommended posting day for 2nd Class before Christmas 2026 is Friday 18 December. You can also pick a later posting day when you order, up to 17 December, so early orders don't arrive weeks before Christmas.

What does the card look like?+

A flat A5 card, 210 by 148mm, printed in colour on both sides. It isn't folded. The design is on the front. On the back your message is printed on the right and the recipient's address on the left, where it shows through the envelope window.

Is my message handwritten?+

No. It's printed in Times italic. Longer messages shrink to fit, down to 10pt, and the preview is drawn to scale, so the layout you see is the one we print. The printer uses standard fonts, so emoji and some symbols can't be printed.

Can each card have a different message?+

Not in one order. Every card in an order has the same design and message; only the address changes. For a different message, place a separate order.

Can I send cards abroad or by 1st Class?+

No. Cards go to UK addresses only, by Royal Mail 2nd Class. 2nd Class isn't tracked, so we can tell you when a card was posted but not when it arrived.

How many cards can I send at once?+

Up to 50 addresses in one order, all paid for together. For more, place a second order.

What if an address is wrong?+

Every postcode is checked against a current UK postcode directory before you pay, but that can't confirm the house number or the name. If a card comes back or can't be delivered because the address was wrong or incomplete, we don't refund that card.

Does PostOwl add anything to the card?+

One small line at the bottom-left of the back: "Sent with PostOwl · postowl.uk". There's no leaflet in the envelope and nothing else is added.
